Cross-training is not just for the gym anymore. With ballet emphasizing fleetness and airiness, contemporary movement developed in the early to mid-twentieth century often explores strength and the dancer's relationship to the floor. By providing Horton and Graham-based modern techniques of breath and motion, we encourage students to find their strengths and their own unique way of moving through the world. A perfect complement to classical training and essential for the complete dancer.

Jazz
This stylized dance form uses the foundations of Ballet and Modern to create new and exciting movement possibilities. For the young dancer, emphasis on proper placement in floor and center work, turns and leaps is stressed. For the more advanced dancer, Jazz Dance emphasizes a quality beyond just technique, using musicality and artistic expression to further the dancer's understanding of movement. Multiple styles of Jazz are offered within the classes; from Broadway, to Lyrical, to Contemporary Concert Jazz.

Modern
One of the oldest and most celebrated dance forms, Modern Dance takes Ballet Technique to a new level. Exploring movement capabilities through innovative floorwork and progressions gives each dancer a better understanding of their body. Students will learn the elementary concepts of contract and release, as well as more advanced principles of Modern Dance. Revered Modern Dancers Graham, and Horton's signature techniques, as well as others, are taught in class.

Tap
Tap Dance is one of the most recognizable dance disciplines. From the beginning dancer discovering the basic sounds the feet can make, to the advanced dancer creating the most intricate of rhythms, Tap provides instruction in coordination, musicality, and phrasing. Students will learn all styles of Tap, from Broadway to Rhythm.
